A non-contact scanner is trailed over the ground, sending out an electromagnetic field that is conducted through the soil. Different properties in the soil affect this field and a receiver records the signal, building up a ‘map’ of the variation in soil properties across each field.
Mapping nutrients
Combined with soil sampling, soil scanning produces rich and detailed maps showing how nutrients vary not only across each individual field but across your farm. This enables us to create prescription variable rate drill plans or variable rate fertilisers plans, reducing seed and input costs.
