Bio-Phage UK is our 36-month trial exploring how foliar feeding and novel biostimulants, alongside a phage-based soil treatment, could help UK dairy farms reduce nitrous oxide emissions and cut synthetic nitrogen use by around 50%, while maintaining forage performance. It’s funded through Defra’s Farming Innovation Programme and delivered with Innovate UK.

We’re hosting an informal discussion evening near each of our three trial sites this autumn to share what we’ve learned in year one. We’d love you to join us, whether you farm nearby, work in milk processing, or are just interested in the results.
At this event, you’ll:
- Hear the first-year findings on nitrogen reduction, emissions and forage performance
- Understand how the trial approach works, and what it could mean for your farm
- Have the chance to ask questions and discuss the findings directly with the project team
- Meet other local farmers, processors and industry contacts interested in nutrient efficiency
